As part of the Hightech Agenda Bavaria, the AI Mobility Node AImotion Bavaria was established at the Technical University of Ingolstadt (THI). The project’s goal is to actively shape the future of mobility through the targeted use of artificial intelligence. The focus is on innovation potential in the areas of autonomous driving, unmanned flight, and digital production.
The mobility node aims to transfer results from basic research into concrete applications. The focus is on developing AI-supported mobility solutions for the 2nd and 3rd dimensions – i.e., for road and air space. This involves the generation, intelligent evaluation, and utilization of large amounts of mobility data with the goal of not only technically advancing autonomous systems but also examining their economic, ecological, and social impacts.
The AI Mobility Node sees itself as a catalyst for new mobility ecosystems: innovations are not only to be enabled but also validated through realistic applications and made tangible for users. In addition to the field of autonomous mobility, AI methods for automotive production and product development are also being researched.
AImotion Bavaria is based at THI, which, since its designation as a Technical University in 2013, has set the strategic goal of becoming one of Germany’s leading universities for mobility. With the AI Mobility Node, this profile is specifically expanded and supplemented by a future-oriented research focus.
