The main focus of Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) is on technology and business. In addition to outstanding practice-oriented teaching, THI is characterized by its research strength. Linked to the regional economic structure, THI positions itself as Germany’s leading mobility university.
With more than 40 research professorships, 300 academic staff members, and a research volume of around €32 million p.a., THI occupies an outstanding position nationwide in relation to its size.
Research at THI is organized into eight internal research institutes – CARISSMA (C-IAD, C-ISAFE, C-ECOS), Institute for Innovative Mobility (IIMo), Institute of New Energy Systems (InES), AImotion Bavaria, Neuburg Sustainability Research and Transfer Center (ForTraNN), Bavarian Foresight Institute – as well as individual fields of competence. In addition, the university works closely with the three affiliated institutes AININ, Fraunhofer Application Center, and inas. In the HRK Research Map, THI is listed with three main research areas: “Vehicle Safety,” “Innovative Mobility,” and “Renewable Energies.”
