SAVeNoW stands for
Functional and traffic safety for automated and v ernetzte mobility – nbenefit for society and oecological wimpact.
The vision
is a functional, socially transparent and accepted “overall tool” that can be used to analyse the relevant questions in the domains of traffic efficiency, traffic safety and ecology/sustainability and to address them with solution scenarios and associated measures. The promising simulated measures can be applied in the real world.

SAVeNoW is researching a digital twin of urban traffic using Ingolstadt as an example, mapping relevant static elements (roads, buildings, transport infrastructure, traffic rules), dynamic elements (road users) and boundary conditions (time of day, weather).

In addition, the project used this digital twin to investigate interaction between automated vehicles and humans in virtual reality (VR). In this context, communication concepts were developed and tested—both for occupants and for vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians.
The project has now been completed. The project results can be viewed here: https://savenow.de/de/results/
