Fraunhofer Application Center for Connected Mobility and Infrastructure

  • Institution
  • Research Institute

The Fraunhofer Application Center for Connected Mobility and Infrastructure at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt is dedicated to current and forward-looking issues in automated and cooperative driving. By means of roadside safety systems and high-performance Car2Infrastructure communication, the safety risks of partially and fully automated traffic flows are to be minimized and traffic operations made more efficient.

In doing so, diverse competencies in the fields of sensor technology, communication, and artificial intelligence are combined, synergies with local industry are utilized, and close collaborations with the City of Ingolstadt and its partners are pursued.

The existing research infrastructures at THI and Fraunhofer IVI, as well as the planned urban test field for intelligent mobility IN2LAB in Ingolstadt, form the foundation for establishing the Application Center.

The plan is to develop additional technology fields in the areas of autonomous systems, digitalization in transportation, and vehicle and traffic safety in the coming years.
