SUE – Self-Driving Urban E-Shuttle

  • Mobility Project

Automated Mobility in Public Transport

SUE (Self-driving Urban E-Shuttle) is the first conceptually certifiable autonomous vehicle for the public transport of the future – Made in Germany. The project runs until September 2025 and forms an important foundation for the future development of autonomous mobility solutions in Germany.

Innovation in Design and Materials

Our vehicle already demonstrates what tomorrow’s mobility can look like: innovative design, flexible demand adaptation, efficient size and weight, and potentially cost-effective operation make SUE a pioneering concept for the public transport of the future.

SUE is being developed for autonomous operation in public transport and is being tested during trial runs at speeds of up to 50 km/h.

Public transport is of fundamental importance for successfully addressing the climate crisis. However, our mobility needs in public transport are still partially served by decades-old technologies that exhibit enormous deficits in terms of ecology, economy, flexibility, and user-friendliness. We have the expertise and experience to change this and shape a more climate-friendly future.

The consortium is led by Uedelhoven GmbH & Co. KG and forms a perfect symbiosis of SMEs, large corporations, and research institutions with significant know-how in the automotive sector and in the field of autonomous driving. User studies accompany the development to identify and consider needs, acceptance, and usage expectations at an early stage.

Municipal Knowledge Transfer

A central component of the project is knowledge transfer for cities and municipalities. For this purpose, a practical guide has been developed to support municipalities in planning and implementing their own projects.

The guide consolidates the experience gained in the project and provides practical guidance on legal, organizational, and operational issues. It is aimed at all those who wish to evaluate or prepare the deployment of automated shuttle services at the municipal level.

We are very pleased to shape the future of public transport in Germany together with the following partners:
