The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, BMDV, and the project sponsor Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM) are funding approximately 50 individual measures under the title “VGI newMIND” until the end of 2024.
The VGI newMIND project aims to analyze and optimize the public transport network and public transport services in the Ingolstadt region through the use of artificial intelligence.
To this end, five different AI projects are examining and implementing detailed and forward-looking approaches to improving public transport, its service scope, and its service quality.
The abbreviation newMIND stands for Mobility, Innovation, Sustainability, and Digitalization.
In December 2021, the Special Purpose Association Transport Association Greater Ingolstadt Region, VGI, and its association partners received funding approvals totaling approximately 27.8 million EUR for the expansion and quality improvement of the entire regional and urban public transport system. The Transport Association Greater Ingolstadt Region, VGI, consisting of the districts of Eichstätt, Neuburg-Schrobenhausen, and Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, as well as the city of Ingolstadt, is strengthening regional cooperation to develop a uniform public transport standard while simultaneously simplifying services for passengers: We connect the region – Your Transport Association VGI.
